City College of San Francisco has been certified by the Department of Education to accept and make available the emergency Financial Aid grants directly to students.

Federal CARES Act emergency funding for students

The Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act provides $7,009,874 million to the City College of San Francisco. The District used 50% of these funds to provide direct emergency cash grants to our students to assist with expenses such as food, housing, course materials, technology, healthcare, and childcare. Eligible students received a notification letter with detailed information on the amount awarded to them based on their units of enrollment.


Students eligibility requirements for the grant:

  • Must be enrolled at least ½ time
  • Must be eligible to receive Federal Financial Aid
  • Must have a completed FAFSA and demonstrate an unmet need
  • Must be meeting Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP)

The total amount of funds CCSF disbursed under the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund to help students cover expenses related to the disruption of campus operation is $3,504,937.
